New York City Blackout 1977

New York City Blackout lasts for 25 hours, results in looting and disorder. After a lightning strike at Buchanan South, a substation on the Hudson River trips two circuit breakers in Westchester County. Then a bolt of second lightning strikes, causing the loss of two 345 kV transmission lines and the loss of power from a 900MW nuclear plant at Indian Point. Now a third lightning strikes, now it takes out two additional critical transmission lines at Sprain Brook.
