Bucs plan to sign wide receiver Antonio Brown

Like it or not, Antonio Brown is coming to Tampa.

The Bucs made it official earlier tonight announcing that Brown would be signing a one year contract.

Is this a good move for the Buccaneers?

Tom Brady was a big advocate behind the scenes of urging the organization to sign Antonio Brown.

Brown last played in the NFL in 2019 with New England. Brown played in one game for the Patriots and had four catches for 56 yards and a touchdown.

Why would Brady be such an advocate for the Bucs signing Antonio Brown?

They had a few practices together in New England and developed some chemistry.

Brown also lived with Brady in his home while playing in New England.

There is no doubt Brown is a Hall of Fame receiver. From 2011-2018, Brown did not catch less than 69 passes in a season and had over 100 caches for six straight seasons from 2012-2018.

It is his locker room demeanor and the off-the-field distractions that seem to follow Brown wherever he has gone.

Since the fall of 2018, Brown has been involved in at least three off the field incidents, that would call his character into question.

October 2018, he was arrested for allegedly throwing furniture off a balcony in South Florida narrowly missing a two- year old boy.

In 2019, Brown was allegedly involved in a domestic abuse situation.

In January of 2020, Brown was involved in a dispute with the driver of a moving truck that was at his home at Brown's request to remove some furniture.

Who can forget the case of Brown’s frozen feet? Brown was in camp with the Oakland Raiders when he went into a Cryotherapy chamber and did not wear the proper footwear.

Brown suffered frostbite on his feet and was later released by the Raiders during training camp.

No word on if trouble is Brown's middle name, but trouble sure seems to follow him wherever he goes,.

The Bucs signed Brown for one reason, to add depth to a banged-up receivers group.

Mike Evans hasn't been able to practice much since Week 4 with his ankle injury. Chris Godwin has missed time with a hamstring injury, and Scotty Miller has been slowed by a hip injury.

It was during the off-season that Coach Bruce Arians said that Brown was not an option for the Bucs after Tom Brady had inked his big contract.

Speaking on the Tiki and Tierney show, Arians said “It's not gonna happen. There's no room. It's just not gonna happen. It's just not a fit here."

Arians also went on to say Brown is "not a fit in our locker room."
